The Vue De Monde effect

If you know me well, you'll know I'm a huge foodie. I read food blogs, I tick off places that I've brunched at from The Breakfast Blog, I watch Nigella Express on the Food Channel, read The Age Epicure, indulge in a bit of Barefoot Contessa/Master Chef/Top Chef/Lydia's Italy now and then too. But nothing tops the Vue De Monde experience; after a much anticipated wait!

J and I fine dined our way through 8 courses over 4 hours...it actually felt shorter than that though. It's strange how at VDM you don't check your watch, or worry about when your next course is coming, unlike at other restaurants...it's the whole ambience and vibe that VDM gives off.

But a picture tells a thousand words, so on with the show! :) *NB: Not all 8 courses are shown...because I was too lazy to upload all the photos. All of them are up on my Facebook profile though.

Tonight I'm going to Number 8 at Crown. Those Entertainment book vouchers are expiring on Sunday and we need to make full use of them before then! It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it. :)

Quote

Just came back from lunch @ Tomodachi with Crystal. Bumped into Looi on the way home! Feeling exhausted and need to nap, but not before I had a chance to check my emails. A friend sent me this quote which perfectly sums up the experience I am about to embark on.

You may wonder, 'How can I leave it all behind if I am just coming back to it? How can I make a new beginning if I simply return to the old?' The answer lies in the return. You will not come back to the 'same old thing.' What you return to has changed because you have changed. Your perceptions will be altered. You will not incorporate into the same body, status, or world you left behind. The river has been flowing while you were gone. Now it does not look like the same river.

We do not choose to be born. We do not choose our parents. We do not choose our historical epoch, or the country of our birth, or the immediate circumstances of our upbringing. We do not, most of us, choose to die; nor do we choose the time or conditions of our death. But within all this realm of choicelessness, we do choose how we shall live: courageously or in cowardice, honorably or dishonorably, with purpose or adrift. We decide what is important and what is trivial in life. We decide that what makes us significant is either what we do or what we refuse to do. But no matter how indifferent the universe may be to our choices and decisions, these choices and decisions are ours to make. We decide. We choose. And as we decide and choose, so are our lives formed. In the end, forming our own destiny is what ambition is about.

Ticking boxes...

As if Facebook weren't already enough, I had to go ahead and create a blog. It was on my To-Do-Before-London list anyway, so yay to ticking another box!

At the moment I'm crook, and with 6 days to go before the big move, the timing could not be any worse :( Even the chocolate cake I had for breakfast (thanks Abs) didn't cheer me up!

I will be updating this blog regularly during my time in London...well, once my new LG laptop arrives. Big thanks to J for doing the hard yards over the weekend for his tech un-savvy sis.

Tonight I'm going to Vue De Monde with J...can't wait, luckily my sinuses are in check so I can actually taste the food! Pics to come later - on Facebook and here!
